Establish a Zipcar presence on campus and in the community, as an alternative to using a personal car.
Launched in January 2009, Zipcar currently has ten, self service, car sharing vehicles that live on campus, in downtown Champaign, and at Lincoln Square in Urbana. A general estimate is that each Zipcar removes at least 15 personal vehicles -- meaning that 150 fewer personal vehicles are on the roads at the current program level. Students, faculty staff and community members are heavily using the Zipcar program and its rapidly growing each month.
