Plant more sustainable landscapes

Sustainable plants are growing. In the last three years, approximately 80% of the trees the Grounds Department planted on campus were native. Last year, they planted 1200 native grasses. This year, they planted 1100 -- which is 100 more than planned.

The Grounds Department has nine No Mow zones across campus. No Mow zones are places where grass is allowed to grow. This helps conserve gasoline and provides wildlife habitat.

Campus locations with native grasses include: Little Bluestem near Parking Lot E-14; Switchgrass and Prairie dropseed at Agricultural Engineering and Roger Adams Laboratory. Please see the photos below.
