Plan and scope for LEED™ certification on all campus building projects more than $5M.
LEED™ certification provides verification that a building meets the highest green building and performance measures. The Planning Division worked with the College of Business on the Business Instructional Facility, which is the University's first building to seek LEED™ Silver Certification. Since this project, the Planning Division is programming all projects more than $5M to be at least LEED™ Silver certified. The Construction Management Division has successfully applied LEED™ standards and practices to capital construction projects over $5M.
Two new projects currently under construction, NCSA Petascale Building and Student Dining/Residential Programs Building, will seek LEED™ Silver Certification. Future projects in this category include the Electrical & Computer Engineering Building and additions to Newmark Civil Engineering Building and Huff Hall.
