Goals

Parking Department

• Improve parking deck triple basin collection systems maintenance.
• Continue to identify energy reduction opportunities for parking facilities.

Printing Department

• Continue testing environmentally friendly solvents.
• Use vegetable-based inks for at least 90% of the offset printing orders.
• Use computer-to-plate (CTP) for 98% of the place productions to maintain reductions in chemical, water and sewer use.
• Recycle old films and plates. Work with customers whose jobs are stored on film to convert to digital format.
• Provide customers with recycled paper options. Use 100% post-consumer recycled paper for all course packets.
• Continue biannual scrap paper giveavay to nonprofit organizations.

Stores and Receiving

• Offer recycled paper purchasing options including toilet paper and napkins.
• Supply recycled copy toners and print cartridges to campus and pickup used cartridges.
• Operate a rechargeble battery recycling program.
• Install an IT system to help optimize on-campus delivery to reduce fuel use and increase efficiency.

Campus Mail Distribution

• Work towards optimizing the efficiency of delivery routes and eliminate the need for one of the vehicles.

Garage and Car Pool

• Continue monitoring vehicle idling with the intent of reducing vehicle idle time.
• Work with the student biodiesel initiative to integrate their product into the campus fuel supply.

Transportation Demand Management

• Implement a comprehensive transportation alternatives website that encourages the use of active modes of transportation.
• Develop a Campus Bicycle Plan that coordinates with the city plans, to increase the use of bicycling as a primary mode of transportation.
• Cooperate with the CUMTD, Urbana, Champaign, and University departments to establish a Zipcar presence on campus and in the community, as an alternative to using a personal car.
