NOTICE OF NONREAPPOINTMENT FOR NONTENURED FACULTY
The guidelines and procedures for issuing notices of nonreappointment to nontenured faculty were written with two major goals in mind: treating the employee fairly and avoiding litigation. We have had relative success in meeting both goals.
Before proceeding with a notice of nonreappointment, please review the guidelines and procedures carefully. Executive officers should pay particular attention to the calendar of events and elements that must be included in the letter of notification under the "Procedures" section. Attached to the Guidelines and Procedures for Notice of Nonreappointment for Nontenured Faculty Members are flow charts for each level in the process and sample letters that units may use as guides.
For complete and updated policies, guidelines, and procedures for notice of nonreappointment for nontenured faculty members, please see the Guidelines and Procedures for Notice of Nonreappointment for Nontenured Faculty Members (Provost’s Communication No. 10) for the current academic year. The communication is issued by the Provost to executive officers of academic and administrative units.
