Plant more sustainable landscapes

Sustainable plants are growing. In the last two years, 80% of the trees the Grounds Department planted on campus were native. They also planted more than 1200 native grasses. More than 1000 are planned for next year.

The Grounds Department has also added nine No Mow zones across campus. No Mow zones are places where grass is allowed to grow. This helps conserve gasoline and provides wildlife habitat.

Campus locations with native grasses include: Little Bluestem near Parking Lot E-14; Switchgrass and Prairie dropseed at Agricultural Engineering and Roger Adams Laboratory. Please see the photos below.
