About
Recognizing that the physical features of the campus are an integral part of the learning experience, it is our responsibility to provide a campus that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but one that is sensitive to human health and the environment.
– Jack Dempsey, Executive Director of Facilities & Services
Facilities & Services Environmental Conservation was established on the Illinois campus to promote initiative and creativity in an effort to achieve environmental sustainability. We encourage all faculty, staff, and students to incorporate into their daily routines the principles of waste reduction, energy and water conservation, building efficiency, and environmental protection.
Facilities & Services is proud to be working toward setting the standard for environmental conservation on campus. To that end, we have established annual F&S goals and initiatives, and seek to recognize the efforts and progress on sustainable practices being made throughout F&S. Additionally, we have partnered with the Environmental Council to develop new research ideas and seek funding for research grants in order to cultivate those new ideas. Our ultimate objective is two fold: to help us better perform our jobs and to encourage environmental conservation beyond Facilities & Services.
